There is a room in my heart
I have for you
Loneliness has since been evicted
And Happiness is your neighbor
I’ve moved you up
From the basement I kept you in
If keeping you in the coldest part of my heart
Meant still having you in my heart
Then I’ll love you from the warmest
You’ll have no problem finding it
It’s furnished with all our memories
and big enough to add some more
Just follow the mantra beating of your name
It’ll lead to you its center
A good metaphor for love replacing loneliness…well said.
Love conquers all. Especially to a girl who believes fairy tales do come true.
Great poem, I liked the line “Just follow the mantra beating of your name”.
Much of my writing coincides with the book I’m currently reading. Haven’t gotten to India yet in Eat Pray Love, but it’s my second time reading it before Hollywood kills it and that’s where mantra came from.
I must second David Jones’ comment. That was my favorite line as well. Nicely done.
Regards…
In addition to Eat Pray Love, I’m trying to get into meditation inspired by my yoga in the park every Thursday. I haven’t found the right mantra yet, but if my heart had one, his name would most definitely be it.
Powerful poem…you wove it together so very well. Loved it 🙂
Thank you for thinking so. I always start my writings in my notebook Nube and sometimes they take a shape of their own when I transfer them here. Glad you like this version of it.
This is wonderful, you’ve come up with a great way to explain how we keep love and memories in us :3
I believe the heart is what you want it to be. At this point in my life, I want it to be condo, well a floor of condos overlooking a garden. So far the only two tenants are happiness and my astronaut. And my garden a testament to my spirit.
Beautifully captured.
Thank you for thinking so
I really liked the eviction metaphor the most in your poem. It reminds me of that one quote that goes “It is better to have lost love, than to have never loved at all.”
Loneliness can live within someone’s core until life becomes a distant memory. I live with my heart on my chest and fully agree that the flight and fall of love is better than the safety of ignorance firmly planted on the ground.
Honest in its simplicity.
It is. For so long i was hesitant to share my writing just because of my honesty. If my astronaut were to ever read this, he would know every last hope in my heart. It’s scary but it’s honest
this is really well done
Thanks. Love can be simple if you let it.
Sweet. Lovely metaphor and the construction is beautiful. It is a good thing to see the heart choosing to love again. Nice one.
Cheers!
Thank you for thinking so ❤ Loving again hurts your ego more than your heart. And a love lost twice affects the pride more than the broken pieces of a shattered heart. I'll take it all if it means loving him to be certain there are no regrets no what ifs shoulda/coulda/coulda's.
4 u:)
Awwwww thank you!!! ❤
